![]() The complete absence of any puzzles, a noticeable lack of interaction with environmental oddities, and the painfully slow walk/run speed only exacerbate the grindy feeling. The story takes place over the course of six days and the pacing stays brisk throughout the first four, only to drag pretty heavily with long, tedious areas and an excessive amount of combat in day 5. Due to having been developed in conjunction with a US team, the localization is outstanding and even the exposition dumps filled with microbiology terms are well explained and easy to understand. The plot follows Aya Brea, an NYPD officer tasked with hunting down Eve, the manifestation of mutated mitochondria gone rogue. Parasite Eve's gameplay may not be perfectly integrated or balanced, but Square could be credited for carving a new interesting grammar in JRPGs, one that completes the circle of influence beginning with Sweet Home and continued via Resident Evil.ħ0% EmulatedUpon first glance, Parasite Eve is Square’s response to Capcom’s Resident Evil, but in reality, it is more of a grounded sci-fi/horror themed JRPG than a survival horror title. On the bright side, its FMV graphics, designs, environments and soundtrack are all striking. Unfortunately, cases of awkward hitboxes and odd enemy behavior mitigates some of its gameplay strengths, alongside a few other annoyances like the final boss. ![]() Despite this, there are two neat gameplay ideas: A traversable on-map battle screen combining ATB command selection with free movement and dodging, feeling like a cross between top-down shooters and Chrono Trigger, and Tools - rare items that could transfer stats and traits between weapons and armor. ![]() Notable for pairing grotesque horror with JRPG sensibilities, the fusion was more superficial than mechanical, with traditional RPG aspects appended to its sci-fi horror backdrop. The part i can't figure out: all was going o.k until got there, i had no signal at all that something goes wrong, there was not shortage of ammo/medpack, yep fights were challenging but beatable at least ang feeling natural, was proud of self when could defeat hard boss the previous day (used "almost all-in" strategy and could win on the edge - all consumables gone, and was very surprised later to know that was not the end.but ok, they give us bunch of medpacks, several times could save'em all to 3rd "round" and still no chance.so if i suck so hard - how could i manage to get there? Btw, i've beaten Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Dino Crisis - the games you could not name 'easy' ones) So i give up, will watch the fight i couldn't pass on YouTube, i think could be 10-15% higher score without, therefore in general that was nice to play and keep involved, well let's look at PE2Ħ0% EmulatedParasite Eve was an expansion of the 1995 novel. ![]() Using all i can, keeping enough energy to cast liberate spell, switching armor, dodging attacks with haste, but max to 3rd "round", just to be defeated in another 30 seconds. 80% PlayStation75.11% overall + Very immersive, nice sound & visual, nice storytelling with "natural-way"-embedded game mechanics such as destinations, crafting etc Interesting locations, in general enjoyable game all the way through story - Steep difficulty balance which you can find at the final battle * The final boss took several hours ang dozens of attempts, but still there is not 0.0001% chance for me to beat it. ![]()
